I follow many blogs providing great information, advising of the best deals, and where to find the best freebies.  Too bad all of this is geared either for adults or babies and young children.  It is not their fault.  These are mommy bloggers of babies and young children.  I am sure as their children grow up what they share will evolve as well.

But what about those of us with teenagers?  We do not have time to wait; our children are teenagers now.  So, I have found a few places (and I mean a few, like two) where we can get freebies and information for teens.

First is TeenFreeway .  This is a great site offering freebies and other information specifically geared towards teens.  Sure, most of this information is for the teen girl, but some information is universal.  They even offer an opportunity for your teen to make money by sharing information through FaceBook, MySpace, and their personal blog (things they are doing anyway).

Next is a program that offers free products to try, share, and promote.  It is a word of mouth program.  What is great about this program is they offer great products for teens AND adults.  That is right, this one is for everyone!  Why not head on over to BzzAgent today and sign up.  It is free and you might get something you have been wanting to try.  Frankie informed me on this one.  She received a box full of makeup remover and cleansers from Clean and Clear.  There were full size samples for her and her friends, along with great coupons.  Me?  I received the Off! Back in May I wrote about a paying gig Frankie was to perform.   Turns out it was a dedication of a historic site in our community, on Flag Day.  I must admit, pretty soon our entire community will be one great big historic site.  Not that I am complaining, but it is a bit much when people never, and I mean NEVER, want to let go of the past.

The dedication was nice.  The weather was HOT!  Frankie did a good job, along with the other kids who performed.  Mostly I wanted to jumped into the lake that was within eye-shot.

Frankie had her final band concert of her high school years last week.  It was cool that she and Lulu played together in symphonic band and for the all-district concert band last winter.  Both had solos in the first song and I could not be more proud of both of them.  Of course, they should be proud of themselves.  I learned this at a work-related seminar a few years back.  Parents tend to extend praise to their children causing the children to need this outward praise to feel good about their accomplishments.  By changing our words we can teach our children to feel fulfilled from within.   Instead of saying “I am proud of you”, why not say “You should be proud”.  I am not saying you should not express pride in your children, but teach them to find it themselves without external need.  Food for thought.

Yesterday Frankie’s band director called about a performance he would like her to attend.  It requires a few piccolo solos and is a Memorial Day-type of event.  It is not held on Memorial Day, but in June.  And, it pays $25.  Not a windfall, but not too shabby for doing something you love.  Frankie should be proud of herself!
